Washington, and the Roads Less Travelled.

Hoodsport, WA was the name of my home in the summer and fall of 2013 as I moved with two friends of mine.  While in Washington state we created and performed music, hiked mount Olympus and kayaked on the Puget Sound.  This journey began as hope for a new beginning, off in a foreign land, with strange people and strange wilderness.  Its nature fed the soul, and its people nurtured those with good intentions.  I will always remember kayaking over jellyfish and the long drive around Mount Olympus with no end destination in sight and just the road the guide us. Although unforeseen circumstances would halt my time there and move me back home, Washington holds a special place in my heart.

The Quest For Knowphest

At the age of 18, venturing out to Long Beach, California in the search for the wind to guide my internal compass, I found Leaders Causing Leaders.  LCL was conceived by Kenneth Schwenker. “People want to make a positive impact on the world, and this event is an amazing opportunity to learn from some of the incredible leaders who have successfully made their mark,” Schwenker says.

“People want to make a positive impact on the world, and this event is an amazing opportunity to learn from some of the incredible leaders who have successfully made their mark,” said Schwenker.

The conference itself consisted of over 100 expert and entrepreneurs in science, business, art, spirituality, human rights and environmental studies.  One of many who spoke at the event included Grammy Award winner Jason Mraz. Meeting Mr. Mraz in person was an honor as his music and message created a personal connection with me throughout my young adult life.  The second year I attended LCL I met Singer/Songwriter and entrepreneur Allen Sovory.  Allen would eventually ask me to be his assistant in the creation of a 2-3 day conference/festival entitled Knowphest. As a web content editor, producing promotional video and print, coordinating and conducting radio interviews, and heading the street team of over 75 individuals I eventually became a co-produce of the event.  I look fondly back on this event in my life as it helped me grow as an individual.  Within this blog post are photos taken at the time of the creation of this event.

A Formal Introduction

My name is Brian Collins, and I am a catalyst in my own story of trial and error, looking to educate those around me while being a positive influence on those around me.  If the endless amounts of Hermann Hesse quotations flirting my mind have had me one thing its that the surrender of power to the unknown of the future is always met with your free will.  The actions you take are all a part of the equation the equals you experience in this life.  I look to progress further in my multimedia skill sets along with my public speaking abilities to help in some way educate those around me and influence the world in a positive way.  Most importantly, making a connection with those young and old to create a unified community of strangers tied together by kindness, gratitude, and integrity.  One of my life missions is to tour high schools in this nation speaking to youth about self-esteem, self-determination, and the power of community.  For now, the foundation must be laid. To that I say, I welcome you to our community. Stick around, we’ll be back after these messages, brought to you by the inspiration of people like you.
